Our Founder
Anold Mulaisho is an LGBTIQ+ refugee activist, model, and healthcare provider who has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Witwatersrand's Centre of Immigration. Their research focuses on queer migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees, specifically addressing issues of documentation, shelter, and accessing sexual and reproductive health services.
Working extensively with asylum seekers from countries that criminalize same-sex relations, Anold has coordinated with NGOs to connect LGBTIQ+ migrants and asylum seekers with essential services, including food, clothing, accommodation, legal aid, and counseling.
Their advocacy work includes raising funds for LGBTIQ+ migrants and asylum seekers, giving talks and interviews about injustices and hate crimes, and presenting at conferences held by organizations including the United Nations and Amnesty International.
Anold's own journey as an LGBTIQ+ asylum seeker has been documented in "Seeking Sanctuary: Stories of Sexuality, Faith, and Migration" (2021, University of Wits University Press), bringing personal insight to their work in supporting others facing similar challenges.
